June 16th - Monday
I am back on the walk.

We went to mass this morning and the priest offered to take us all out to breakfast. Here is a picture of us all at a diner.

We're in Eastern Montana now. Here is what the land looks like... with cows.

June 17th - Tuesday
It's HOT.
The sun has made these two delirious. They are smiling crazy. Justine normally smiles crazy but Bess has now become crazy as well.

First the sun makes them crazy then...??? I don't even know what this emotion is...

If you look closely at this picture you can see the road we walked winding off into the distance. Beautiful landscape, long road.

So my right hip was beginning to hurt. I know, I know, I'm an old man. I have found that the slight angle of the shoulder of the road makes it so my legs hit the ground unevenly. This shortened distance for the right leg is what was causing my right hip to hurt. I managed to test this theory by stepping my right foot into the divots in the road along the rumble strip. The wholes were just deep enough (maybe an inch) so that by timing my steps right and stepping into the wholes on my right I successfully alleviated the pain in my right hip. However it was a giant pain in the neck to have to walk with my right leg in the rumble strip so that didn't really pose a lasting solution.

The further we walk east in Montana the more desert like it becomes. I discovered a cactus.

It was very hot and bright out. I discovered my reflection in the window of the van and seeing as I have so few pictures of myself I decided to take a picture of my reflection.

And at last, the end of our walking day...

That night in the RV park we had the first of our crazy lightning storms. And the people were amazed... It's hard to get an actual picture of a lightning strike but here is what the sky looks like. I did get some video of the lightning but until I get around to sorting out how to post the videos you all will have to settle for a picture of the sky. Lets just say it was a lot of lightning that went on for hours...
